Thing 18.

Hello all..
In my last blog post, I discussed social bookmarking, which is great and all. But since I plan on working with elementary school children, I don't see a huge demand for it in my classroom.
In this blog post, I will discuss Twitter, and how it can be incorporated into education.

Here's the link to my Twitter account:

In my hashtag quest, I found twitter accounts and posts on education and special education. I was surprised to find a lot of resources for special needs educators. There are educational hashtags for everything!! Homeschooling, distance learning, SPED, middle school, high school, anything really!!

I think educators need to understand social media because it is such a big part of our lives now. Social media helps us connect with friends, family, and colleagues. We can learn from each other, and grow from each other, by sharing different links, articles, or posts.
From Twitter, I gained insight on educational hashtags. I knew anything could be hash-tagged, but I never thought to search different educational hashtags.
Twitter could be applied in the classroom. But, like I said before, since I am teaching elementary special education, I don't see a great need for my students to use Twitter.
